The
Vision
Spence’s
Community Educational Farm embraces a vision of a world
where families, communities and villages are connected to
each other, Nature and their food sources. Within each
bio-region is a series of Community Owned Educational Farms
networked together with each other, local farms and their
surrounding communities. COE Farms are community gathering
places providing space for community events, rituals,
recreation, education, apprenticeships, retreats, and
locally grown food distribution centers. This vision
includes a culture based on partnership and diversity where
all life is valued, inner wisdom is honored and
relationships to each other and to the earth are cultivated
and take priority.

Spence's Community Education Farm
As a community we provide quality experiences for children
and young adults in a beautiful and natural setting. Welcome!
Spence's Community Educational Farm is a model of an
old family farm, supported by its local community. We provide year-round
programs for schools,
families and children. Our themes revolve around partnership
with nature!

Our Mission
Spence's Farm is a 204 year old family farm
transformed into a versatile teaching environment
with a program built around life on a working farm.
Our low mentor/camper ratio allows each child
personal attention.
Our primary goal is to empower greatness in children
and our experiential programs are designed to
increase each child's personal knowledge. Our camp
is distinguished by its attention to personal
growth.

Spence's Farm Philosophy
Mentoring: Once family,
friends and neighbors took an active responsibility
as Mentors in raising children. As trusted guides
and wise teachers, their vital relationship helped
young adults become positive contributors in the
larger community. We have created this environment
for your family to experience those values.
We also developed and use the CRAFTS of Partnership,
which we use in how we teach our programs:
COMMUNICATION
RESPECT
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
FRIENDSHIP
TRUST
SETTING
GOOD BOUNDARIES
Each day we begin with a discussion of one of our
daily themes: partnership, goal setting,
communication, problem solving and personal
responsibility. Awareness of these themes will
empower your child throughout life. At the end of
each day we review the topic and have an important
acknowledgment session. We encourage everyone to
share fellow campers' positive behaviors, and
accomplishments, as well as their own.
Staff: Each program has
one or more adult/mentor leaders, persons who,
because of their accumulated life experiences,
skills and knowledge, we consider to be positive
role models. Our mentors may be assisted by one or
more young people enrolled in our Junior Mentor
Training Program.
